FROM THE CO-EDITORS-IN-CHIEF

Welcome to the Winter 2025 issue of the International Journal of Arts Management. This issue features five academic research papers examining a variety of interesting topics, a practitioner perspectives article, and a case study.
This issue’s Editors’ Choice article, by Roger D. Bennett and Rohini Vijaygopal, also the AIMAC 2024 Best Marketing Paper, demonstrates that visual art can play a role in reducing the stigma associated with mental disabilities. The article is a strong example of experimental research in arts management and explores an area of impact for the arts that is not often considered in our field.
The remaining Academic Research articles consider different perspectives on arts management, as well as different creative industries. Two articles look at different aspects of the film industry, with Philippe Aurier and Guergana Guintcheva examining consumers’ experiences of book-to-film adaptations and Agnieszka Orankiewicz and Marcin Adamczak exploring new film distribution models resulting from the impact of streaming services. Inna Lyubareva, Fabrice Rochelandet, and Imad El Badisy also examine new business models impacted by technology, this time in the news industry, in the AIMAC 2022 Best Management Paper. Finally, Charlie Wall-Andrews, Reima Shakeir, and Brian Hanssen look across a variety of arts organizations in Canada to explore the influence of racialized leadership on organizational performance.
In this issue’s Practitioner Perspectives article, Ryan Humphrey looks at the phenomenon of community arts programs adapting their practices to align with the values and requirements of funders, potentially to their detriment. Finally, this issue’s Case Study delves into entrepreneurship in the music industry, profiling the late Steve Albini and the impact of the business practices at his Electrical Audio recording studio on the music business.
