FROM THE CO-EDITORS-IN-CHIEF

Winter greetings from the International Journal of Arts Management. We are delighted to bring you another issue of insightful and practical research on the arts and cultural industries.

In this issue’s Editors’ Choice article, Angela Bargenda and Chiara Messerschmidt introduce a new model for the promotion of emerging artists centered around online art platforms and the digital transformation of emerging artists’ relationships with their various stakeholders.

Digital technology underlies two additional Academic Research articles in this issue, with Xin Fu, Yu Yuan, Xiaoru Du, and Jing Peng examining how the Chinese social mechanism of Guanxi affects textile designers’ likelihood to adopt artificial intelligence tools in their work, and Fatma Choura exploring the consumption values derived from digital or e-reading. In the remaining Academic Research articles, Jonas Burke and Andreas Keil analyze the role of the equally current issue of sustainability in the German theater industry, while Xueyan Cao and Ke Li give us a new validated measure of museum visitors’ perceived value and François Colbert, Alain d’Astous, and Pierre Lamoureux provide a historical view of the literature on marketing the arts.

This issue’s Practitioner Perspectives article gives us a glimpse into the challenges facing traditional art galleries and their innovative strategic responses through the experience of Paris-based gallerist Robbie Fitzpatrick, who co-authored the article with researcher Marek Prokůpek. Finally, this issue’s Case Study, by Carlo Alberto Petruzzi, considers the impact of the professional ticket resale industry on classical music, contrasting two different approaches for engaging with ticket resale embraced by the Opéra de Paris and the Wiener Philharmoniker.

We are excited to be hosting the fourth annual IJAM Paper Development Workshop on June 29, 2026 prior to the 18th International Conference on Arts and Cultural Management in Rio, Brazil. This year’s workshop theme is “Artificial Intelligence in Arts Management Research.” In addition to individual feedback sessions, the workshop will feature a keynote presentation on artificial intelligence as a tool for arts management research and panel discussions on current research on artificial intelligence in arts management practice and the ethical use of artificial intelligence in publishing research. To apply, please submit an extended abstract of the paper you intend to develop at the workshop, maximum 1,000 words, to ijam@hec.ca by March 15, 2026.

Finally, a reminder to submit all manuscripts here: https://revue.hec.ca/index.php/ijam/login and to add 'noreply@revue.hec.ca' to your email contacts to receive notifications and confirmation emails from the system.
