Philippe Ravanas, Justin Sinkovich

Philippe Ravanas, a native of France, is Professor and Chairman Emeritus in the School of Business and Entrepreneurship at Columbia College Chicago. He is a Visiting Professor of the Central Academy of Drama in Beijing, China and of KEDGE Business School in Paris, France. He is a past VP of Corporate Communica­tions for Euro Disney in Paris. He has also worked for Christie’s Auction House in London.

Justin Sinkovich is an Associate Professor and the Associate Director of the School of Business and Entrepreneurship at Columbia College Chicago, specializing in entrepreneurship and marketing strategy. He is a record label Solid Brass Records partner and a Grammy-voting music producer. Previously, he was the New Media Manager at Touch and Go Records, US label manager of Southern Records, owner of File 13 Records, and founder of the Webby-winning Epitonic.

ABSTRACT
Steve Albini, who recently passed away, was a seminal figure in the music industry. He was renowned for his uncompromising approach to audio engineering, his independent ethos, and his incisive commentary on the music business. This study explores his immense contribution to the field. It focuses on his entrepreneurial vision and the specific business practices he adopted for Electric Audio, his recording studio.
