FROM THE CO-EDITORS-IN-CHIEF
Welcome back to the new academic year. We open Volume 29 of the International Journal of Arts Management with a special issue on Art as Investment.
Guest editors Andrea Rurale, Brunella Bruno, and Jianping Mei have assembled a fascinating set of articles that provide multiple perspectives on the concept of the financial value of art and the dynamics of art markets. The discussion of the financial value of art is complemented by a Case Study in which Philippe Ravanas examines the unique economic model and financial management practices of the Rodin Museum, providing a practical application of the special issue’s focus. Art as a financial investment is a lesser examined topic in IJAM and we are excited to devote this issue to this interesting research.
We were delighted to see so many IJAM authors, reviewers, and readers at the 18th International Conference on Arts and Cultural Management in Rio, Brazil. At the conference, we shared good news on IJAM’s success, including increases in our Scopus CiteScore, JCR Impact Factor, SCImago SJR, and H-Index, and new classifications as ANVUR-Class A in Italy and CAPES-MB in Brazil. We were also happy to share we have been able to reduce our time to process manuscripts by between 40% and 76% while maintaining a 21% acceptance rate. These success factors are the result of the strong support of our academic community, as illustrated by a 424% growth in submissions from 2021 to 2025. We thank you for believing in our journal and for all of your submissions, reviews, and support!
We were also excited to host the 4th annual IJAM Paper Development Workshop “Artificial Intelligence in Arts Management Research” prior to the conference. Participants received feedback from editors and peer reviewers on their research in progress, discussed the role of artificial in research and publication, and had an opportunity to network with the participants in the 10th AIMAC Doctoral Symposium.
Thank you to those of you who participated in our author survey on artificial intelligence. Your responses enabled us to craft a new policy on the use of artificial intelligence that reflects the views and needs of our community. Look for a report of the results and a new policy to be added to our submission guidelines soon.
We also had the honor of announcing the 2026 IJAM award winners. Congratulations to IJAM Impact Award winners Heidi Angell Strøm, Trude Høgvold Olsen, and Lene Foss for their paper “Tensions for Cultural Entrepreneurs Managing Continuous Innovation: A Systematic Literature Review,” the most cited article from IJAM volume 23. And congratulations and thank you to Reviewer of the Year Marta Massi.
Marta will be joining our Editorial Board this year, along with Bianca Cruz de Araujo, Brea Heidelberg, Claire Nicholls, and Mathilde Pulh. Thank you to all of our new Editorial Board members for your dedication to IJAM.
Finally, a big thank you to outgoing Associate Editors Dagmar Abfalter and Elisa Salvador for all your hard work, and welcome to incoming Associate Editors Kostas Alexiou, Francesco Chiaravalloti, Guergana Guintcheva, and Boram Lee. We appreciate everyone who has been part of our editorial team. We couldn’t do it without you.
Here’s to another successful year of IJAM!
